Tier 2 Design Review - EP Subsystem Assembly
A fixed-price, 1-week-turn review of an EP subsystem assembly design package — Preliminary or Critical Design Review (PDR, CDR), assembly CAD & drawings, magnetic circuit design, and more — evaluated by subject matter experts with 15+ years of government and commercial experience against known electric propulsion failure modes, material compatibility requirements, interface and tolerance requirements, and engineering best practices appropriate to your hardware maturity level. Rapidly and efficiently identify fundamental architecture design flaws, piecepart-integration omissions, and assembly-level workflow issues that can cost EP development teams hundreds of thousands of dollars and months of schedule. In contrast to Tier 1, the Tier 2 service goes one level up: reviewing the full assembly — architecture, interfaces, tolerances, and magnetics — to identify assembly-level design errors and magnetic circuit deficiencies before they become hardware failures.
The Tier 2 Design Review is applicable for one (1) EP assembly (e.g., thruster head, cathode, propellant flow controller, etc.); electrical circuit, PWB, or similar design is not covered by this service. Please reach out with questions regarding the scope of your project to confirm you select the correct review tier for your needs.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Submissions are scoped for a single device assembly. Assembly geometry reviews may include up to 40 unique parts/components and a corresponding set of up to 40 drawing sheets; subassemblies are not considered a single unique part unless reviewed & agreed by SpaceProp Strategies, Inc. in writing. Design packages may include, but are not limited to, Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), magnetic circuit design (base geometry & magnetic field characteristics), etc. The submitter is encouraged to provide a clear focus area for the review should a specific set of concerns exist with the submission.
Assembly drawings and/or related BOMs may be submitted in MS Word (*.DOCX, *.DOC), MS Excel (*.XLSX, *.XLS), or PDF formats. Complete design review packages or magnetic circuit design packages may be submitted in MS PowerPoint (*.PPTX, *.PPT) or PDF formats. No submissions over 50 MB are accepted for this service. Submissions exceeding these limits are accepted at SSI's discretion; additional fees may apply if the scope of review materially exceeds the standard engagement. In these cases, SSI will notify the submitter prior to proceeding with a review.
DELIVERABLE
The results of the review will be delivered as a formal written report with severity-rated findings and specific corrective recommendations. For submissions requesting a magnetic circuit design review, the report will include SSI's independent field topology and power scaling assessment (assuming the required documentation is provided by the submitter). A 5-business-day turnaround time after payment and submission of required documents is typical.
TERMS
Scope of Review: This service covers the single submitted component assembly only. Review findings are specific to the parts, materials, interfaces, and information contained within the submission. This service does not include system-level review, procurement assessment, lead time or sourcing analysis, regulatory compliance determination, export control classification, or evaluation of any item not present in the submitted document. Magnetic circuit design review is performed against client-provided field topology and strength data; SSI's independent check requires that data to be included in the submission. The more context provided by the submitter, the more thorough the analysis.
Turnaround Time: SSI targets a five (5) business day turnaround from receipt of all required materials, including payment confirmation, executed NDA, and submission documents. Turnaround time is a target, not a guarantee, and may be extended in the event of submission complexity, incomplete document submission, or circumstances beyond SSI's control. SSI will notify the submitter promptly if the standard turnaround cannot be met.
Advisory Nature: Findings and recommendations delivered under this service reflect the professional judgment of SSI engineers applied to the submitted materials. They are advisory in nature and do not constitute a guarantee of design adequacy, regulatory compliance, or fitness for any particular purpose. All engineering decisions remain the sole responsibility of the client.
Post-Delivery Follow-Up: SSI may request additional clarification prior to or during the review. One round of written clarifying questions on delivered findings is included and must be submitted within five (5) business days of report delivery. Follow-up is limited to clarification of findings as reported and does not extend the scope of the original review. Additional consulting beyond this scope is available under a separate engagement.
Payment: Payment is due in full at the time of purchase. SSI will not begin review until payment is confirmed and all required materials are received. If submitted materials are determined to be outside the scope of this service, SSI will notify the submitter and issue a refund or offer an alternative engagement as appropriate.
NDA: A fully executed Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement between the submitter and SpaceProp Strategies, Inc. is required before a review begins. An NDA will be provided upon completion of payment. Submission of materials constitutes the submitter's acknowledgment that they are authorized to share the submitted documents and that all applicable distribution and export control markings are accurate and complete.
